Chen-Wei Lin has engaged extensively with Taiwan's national security, defense policies, and Japan affairs. Dr. Lin has significant government experience, having served twice as a Senior Advisor in Taiwan's National Security Council for a total of five years under two administrations (2004~2008, 2019~2020).

Dr. Lin also served as the Chief Executive Officer of Institute for National Defense and Research (2020~2023).

In academia, Dr. Lin has taught as a professor at Hokkaido University Public Policy School and Tokoha University. He received his Ph.D. in international relations from the University of Tokyo. He is fluent in Mandarin, English and Japanese.
